Noah's 3 weeks already!

Time is flying by! We can't believe we have been parents for 3 weeks already!
~Lots of firsts this week...Noah met his grandma and his uncle K for the first time, took his first restaurant visit with grandma, uncle, and mommy and daddy to Jestine's Kitchen (yummy southern food), and went on his very first trip to the beach (pictures for that adventure will be coming up soon :-)

My busy week...

This is comfy...

Just me and my grandma (thank you grandma for the diaper, cooking and cleaning services this past week :-)

I still don't get it Uncle K, could you 'splain that again??

Another bath??

Ok, here's my cute pose again...

Just get me some skates and I'm ready to go!

Paws off!

All tuckered out after my busy week...

Updates

I apologize in advance for the grammar and spelling mistakes - the sleep deprivation has reached a whole new level :-) Some random thoughts and updates from this past week:

~Goliath is getting used to Noah and is much better with him. He doesn't pace or give us those 'why did you bring him home??' looks when Noah cries or makes his sweet little newborn noises and squeaks. Lately, when we put Noah in his papasan swing, we have noticed G-pup will lay down right next to him. And if we're not in the room when Noah cries, Goliath will go over and 'check' on him and then give us this look like 'can't you see he's crying? what are you going to do about it?' ;-)

~P has earned the nickname OPP (Over Protective Papa) :-) Joking aside, though, P is an absolutely wonderful daddy and both Noah and I are blessed to have him. It is amazing how, from the first few days in the hospital, P could calm him down when no one else could. Just this past week, we have noticed how Noah always 'follows' P's voice. When P talks to him, or even just enters/leaves a room, Noah does his best to focus and find where his daddy is. Just like in utero, Noah is responsive to that 'deep, Canadian' voice ;-)

~Noah had his first 'social' smile and Grandma claimed he 'chuckled' at her :-)
He also imitated Mommy sticking out her tongue! Pretty amazing. Each day seems to bring something new, it's fun to watch his development. We just hope we are able to capture all of these little moments, he is already growing so fast!

~We all think Noah is quite the strong little guy! I think it was all of his work-outs in the womb (or perhaps he is just living up to this shirt...). Right after he was born, the nurses commented on how much he kicked, and even Grandma noticed how strong his kicks can be when trying to change his diaper :-)

More photos to follow soon...hope everyone is doing well! We can't wait for everyone to meet our little guy!

2 Weeks Old

Now that Grandma's here for a while, I thought I would upload more pics for my Noah fans :-) We are doing pretty well, but still working on establishing feeding and other routines. And we're even more sleep deprived than usual ;-) I have graduated from 'placenta' brain to what Grandma calls 'nursing' brain...

Noah had his 2-week-old checkup on Friday and he's doing well. His jaundice cleared up, and we found out that he gained an entire pound (he's 9 lbs already!) since his last visit a little over a week ago. He does have colic, but we are working with our pediatrician to figure out if there is a cause so hopefully it gets better soon.

And, continuing on with the development updates :-)

2 weeks old...

Your baby's eyesight is still pretty fuzzy. Babies are born nearsighted and can see things best when they're about 8 to 10 inches away, so she can see your face clearly only when you're holding her close.

Don't worry if your baby doesn't look you right in the eye from the start: Newborns tend to look at your eyebrows, your hairline, or your moving mouth. As he gets to know you in the first month, he'll be more interested in having eye-to-eye exchanges. Studies show that newborns prefer human faces to all other patterns or colors. (High-contrast items, like a checkerboard, are next in line.) Babies are also sensitive to light and can see in three dimensions.
